1. Definition
Acrylic sheet (PMMA sheet) is a single material, while acrylic sheet barrier is a special functional layer added on top of it through a composite process, like putting a 'functional film' or creating a 'sandwich structure' on the sheet, giving it properties that cannot be achieved with a single material. 'so that it has a single material can not achieve the performance. For example, ordinary glass-like acrylic panels can be upgraded to 'sunscreen glass', 'anti-fog glass', and so on through the barrier layer.
2. Core role and common types
High-quality acrylic has some UV resistance, but long-term outdoor use will still cause it to yellow and become brittle. An acrylic sheet barrier, by adding absorbers in the substrate or the surface of the protective coating, can block more than 95% of the ultraviolet radiation (UV380nm below), while maintaining 70%-85% light transmission. Commonly used in outdoor billboards, museum display cabinets, automotive headlights, and other scenes, effectively protects exhibits and interiors from light aging damage. Infrared ray is the main carrier of heat, acrylic sheet barrier blocks the infrared band of sunlight, and reduces the heat transmission rate by doping nano-metal oxides or applying reflective coating. For example, the roof of the sunroom using such sheets can reduce the heat into more than 30%, taking into account the light and heat insulation. In addition, the surface hardness of ordinary acrylic is only 2-3H (glass is 6H), making it easy to be scratched. Hardened acrylic sheet barrier is coated with a resin coating through UV curing technology, which raises the hardness to 4-5H, significantly increasing wear resistance.
Acrylic sheet barrier uses 'invisible technology' to reinvent the possibilities of materials, making an ordinary sheet resistant to UV rays and heat, as well as scratch-resistant and wear-resistant, and adaptable to smart scenarios. Perhaps a seemingly ordinary sheet is hiding the 'super power' to improve the quality of life.
